Open Access Week: Library Catalog Options

For Open Access Week, we revisit the Albertsons Library’s new, updated “WorldCat Discovery” catalog, which offers an improved interface experience with an option to filter by openly available content from the Advanced Search option or from the search results page:

The “Open Access” filter brings content under the broader open environment that include open access (OA) articles and open educational resources (OER) from sources like JSTOR Open Access Books and JSTOR Open Access Journal Collection; Public Library of Science (PLOS); Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ); SciELO Journals; HathiTrust Digital Library, and many more.

WorldCat Discovery users can also access DOI full-text open content via Unpaywall. Unpaywall monitors over “50,000 unique online content hosting locations, including Gold OA journals, Hybrid journals, institutional repositories, and disciplinary repositories.”
