Did you know that children who do not continue to read over the summer can lose up to three months of reading achievement that they made during the school year? This summer learning loss, or “summer slide,” is one of the reasons that faculty and staff of Albertsons Library are helping staff Libraries in the Park this summer. Libraries in the Park is a summer reading program that occurs over the noon hour in parks where the Idaho FoodBank is serving lunch as part of Picnic in the Park.
Staff from Albertsons Library will be at Ivywild Park every Thursday from June 6 through August 8, from 11:45-12:45. Kids can hear stories read while eating their lunch and then can participate in a variety of activities. Librarians help kids select books to take home and read. This event is free and open to the public.
