For generations artists have utilized an extensive toolkit of techniques and concepts to visually communicate complex ideas. Come explore some of the practical aspects of image planning and composition. Join photographer Shawna Hanel, professor of the VIP Visual Storytelling project, in a workshop dedicated to improving your presentations.

Join College of Engineering’s Web Design Specialist and Graphic Designer, Michele Armstrong, as she shares the rules for creating research posters. Having a good looking poster that is professional and shows your research topic in a way that is clear is very important. Topics covered include: Audience, Fonts, Photos and Graphics, Layout, Software, and Printing. She will also share downloadable templates to help you get started and conform to universities branding standards.

Participating in the Undergraduate Research Conference is a great experience, but it’s only one part of developing your reputation as a scholar. A wide array of resources are now available to help researchers get the word out about their work, helping build their careers. Join Michelle Armstrong, Head of Scholarly Communications and Data Management, as she share information about developing an online researcher profile, services available to both students and faculty, and ways you can capitalize upon participating in a research conference.

Undergraduate Research Conference Poster Prep and Printing

Need help creating your conference poster? Come to the library on April 10th where you can get support setting up and printing your poster. Still making last minute changes? No problem. Bring your files and join us for a “Down to the Wire” work session on Friday, April 14th.

And don’t forget, students have the opportunity to publish their posters in ScholarWorks after the conference.
