Following the Martin Luther King Human Rights Day celebration is Black History Month. Laura Coleman of Access Services has once again created a dazzling display with a wide variety of items highlighting Black History from the library’s collection. Be sure and take a look and remember, you can check out any of the items on display.
History professor Jill Gill wrote a superb article on the history of Civil Rights in Idaho. Professor Gill visited the Boise State University Special Collections and Archives right here on the 2nd floor of the library and used several of the collections as research for her work on this subject. The staff at Special Collections are always happy to speak with you.
Laura also recommends visiting the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), the Idaho chapter of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), and the Idaho Black History Museum. On campus you can also visit the Multicultural Student Services and learn about the history of this campus organization.
