My name is Alessandro Meregaglia (Alex for short), and I am the new Archivist/Librarian at Boise State University! I join a fantastic team of three other archivists in Special Collections and Archives. (We’re located on the second floor of Albertsons Library, by the way. View the Special Collections and Archives website.)
I moved to Boise in April, and come to the Gem State by way of Indiana and Michigan: I was raised just north of Indianapolis and received a Master’s in History and a Master of Library Science (with an Archives and Records Management specialization) from Indiana University Bloomington this past December. For my undergraduate degree, I received a Bachelor’s in American Studies from Hillsdale College (Michigan).
My duties as an archivist are far-ranging: I process collections, answer researchers’ reference questions, design exhibits, help manage our awesome student workers, digitize materials for greater accessibility, collaborate with librarians in other units, and the list goes on. My primary task, however, will be to grow our online collections. Speaking of which, our digitized collections are fantastic resources. Ever wondered what Boise State’s campus used to look like? Browse through our Historic Boise State collection. Want to flip through old Boise State yearbooks? View the yearbooks in this digital collection.
I’m excited to help researchers find what they need in our collections, and I look forward to being a part of the Boise State community!
