What if I have questions about using the
Library, or finding materials in the Library, or understanding how to use
one of the systems?
Ask for assistance at the Reference
Assistance Desk. This is on the 1st floor, straight ahead as you
enter the building.
Alternatively, send a question to the
Library's electronic reference service called "AskUs".
The link to this service is available from the Library's Home
Page under the "Services" heading. Questions should be
within the guidelines listed on the form. Responses will be emailed to
you within 24 hours, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
Do I need a special card to check out
books?
You can check out books with your BSU
photo ID (campus ID). You do need to have your ID with you when you check the
materials out!
Where do I get my BSU photo
ID card?
Go to the Student ID Services office on
the 1st floor of the Student Union Building, across from the bowling
alley. For
more information, click here for the BSU Campus Photo ID web page.

Where do I check out
books?
Check out books at the Circulation
Desk. It’s on the 1st floor, the counter on your left as you enter
the building. The only exceptions
are the materials in the Curriculum Resource Center
(CRC) on the 2nd floor; check CRC materials out at the Circulation
Desk in CRC.
For how long are books checked out?
For undergraduate students, books from
the general collection circulate for four weeks and may be renewed twice
for a month each time. Books can be renewed in person or by calling
426-1204 and giving call numbers, or via Voyager.
For graduate students, books from the
general collection circulate for six weeks.
Can periodicals be checked out?
Undergraduate students may check out a
periodical overnight, which is defined as being
checked out during the last hour that the Library is open, and due back
during the first hour the Library opens the next day. Graduate
students and faculty may check out current (loose) periodicals for 2
days and bound periodicals for 1 week.

My professor said he/she put some material
on RESERVE in the Library. Where is this?
The reserve materials could either be on the 1st floor, at the
Reserves Desk on the left as
you enter the Library, just past the Circulation
Desk OR on Electronic Reserve. Reserve materials
from the Reserves Desk have a limited check-out time. To the
extent possible, photocopies of articles, old tests and instructor's
notes are scanned and placed on electronic reserve. Electronic reserves
allows you to read the articles 24/7 from any web accessible
computer. If materials are on electronic reserves, your
professor will supply you with the password to access the readings.
If the material on reserve is video tape,
music, or other non-print format, the item will be on reserve at the 2nd
floor Curriculum Resource Center desk.

The key card dispenser is on the
First Floor of the Library, directly opposite the Circulation

(Web Tour)
How much does a key card cost?
The key card costs $5.00 the first
time. $0.50 is for the cost of the card and you get $4.50 in value
for copies. You can then add money (from $1 to $99) to your card
with no additional service charge. Money can be added at the card
dispenser or at the photocopy machines.

How do I find out what periodicals are on microfilm or
microfiche?
Use Voyager, the Library's online
catalog, or the Journal Titles
list. Look up the
periodical's title. The entry will include information on where
the older issues of that title are -- microfilm, microfiche, or bound
and shelved in the general stacks by call
number. The Journal Titles list also tells you if the title is
available electronically, either through a subscription with the
publisher or through an index that includes full-text articles.

are also location directory signs on each floor in the elevator lobby,
and printed guides at the Reference Assistance

I have a laptop that
I'd like to use in the Library to access the Internet. Can I do that?
If your laptop is equipped with a properly installed
wireless network interface card or a network interface card, you can
access the Internet with your laptop in the Library. More detailed
information is available from the Library
Information Series #11. Wireless access is available on all floors
of the Library. Internet network plugs are located on the 2nd, 3rd, and
4th floors; for the locations of these plugs, ask for a map at the
Reference Assistance Desk (ABC's of accessing the Internet with your
own computer from the Albertsons Library).
Is there a phone I can use?
There is a campus phone near the
Circulation Desk (across the lobby) and on the Third and Fourth

There are pencil sharpeners located on
every floor.
Where may I obtain change?
You may obtain change for
$1.00 and $5.00 bills from the change machines located on the first
