GETTING STARTED:
- Library Skills is a self-paced and self-directed course. To
get started, check in at the Reference Desk and have your name checked on the
class list so that a folder can be set up for your work.
- The course materials are available on the Internet. Go to
any computer terminal in the Library and open a web browser. The Library’s
website is the default homepage. Under the section labeled Services, click on
Library Skills (Univ 106).
- Once you open the Library Skills
website
http://library.boisestate.edu/skills the first thing
you should do is to print out the Introduction and the
Target Dates.
- To start the course, click on the Chapters link. Read the
chapter and then print the corresponding assignment. The assignments are keyed
to the chapter numbers: after you read chapter one, do assignment one, after
chapter two, assignment two, and so on.
- After completing an assignment place it in the wooden box
labeled UNIV 106, located on the Reference Desk counter, so it can be graded.
If it is correct, you will get full credit. If there are mistakes, they will
be indicated, and the assignment will be returned to your individual folder so
that you can correct it.
- It is important that you check back regularly to see if you
have any mistakes that need corrections. It is YOUR responsibility to check
for corrections.
- Check the class blog regularly,
http://univ106.blogspot.com/ for
class-related announcements. You can subscribe to it via e-mail or
through a news reader like Bloglines,
Yahoo,
Google, and many more.
- When you have completed all of the assignments and
corrected any mistakes, you will have successfully passed the course. You
receive credit for the course only if you correctly complete all assignments.
PLEASE ASK FOR HELP ANYTIME YOU HAVE QUESTIONS DURING THE COURSE.
