About the Data:

The Web of Science, from the Institute of Scientific Information, remains the most comprehensive index to the periodic scientific literature. Comprising the Science Citation Index, the Social Science Citation Index, and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index, the Web of Science includes citations for the vast majority of published research articles, with an even greater breadth of coverage when factoring in citations for all items cited by the included items. The Web of Science is primarily composed of articles and other items appearing in journals and conference materials; the breadth of its coverage of research monographs, however, varies by discipline. It also does not measure creative or non-written works very well.
