Databases by subject | Resources by subject

Albertsons Library provides access to a growing collection of over 230+ research databases, indexes, and topic-specific online resources. Within some of these larger database providers there are several hundred journal, magazine, and newspaper titles. To make sense of the enormous amount of research and data available to you and your students we have compiled a list of "core" online resources that bring together scholarly pursuit and academic rigor.

The following databases are available via the Articles, Databases link on the library's homepage:

CORE FACULTY/RESEARCH DATABASES: each of these covers exclusively research publications.

thomson isi logoWeb of Science / Web of Knowledge - The classic citation database covers approximately 8,700 of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world, in all disciplines. Includes ability to do cited reference searching, to find publications based on what they cite, allowing users to navigate forward and backward through the literature. While Web of Science may not find every item that a premier, discipline-specific database finds, its effort to cover nearly all items cited means its coverage is extremely broad for nearly every discipline. Click HERE to access.

jstorlogoJSTOR

A multidisciplinary database that covers all manner of academic subjects. Date ranges from material available from 1800 to the present.. JSTOR delivers full-text content via PDF with "high-resolution, scanned images of journal issues and pages as they were originally designed, printed, and illustrated. JSTOR's coverage of most of the key journals in every discipline, and their complete backfiles, gives it a stunning and unique breadth. Note also that because it does not include the recent issues (its "moving walls" usually omit the most recent three to five years), and because it does not include comprehensive coverage in any field, focusing on the most important journals, it cannot be considered quite comprehensive. " Article citation is done via Google Scholar. Click HERE to access.

CORE DATABASES, ALL USERS: each of these has extremely broad coverage of both research materials and popular materials.

ebscologoAcademic Search Premier - Part of the EBSCOHost family of databases, Academic Search Premier is similar in scope to Academic OneFile, offers full-text access to over 4500 journals and indexing to over 8200+ journal and magazine titles. onefilelogoAcademic OneFile - Part of the Gale Group family of databases, Academic OneFile is a multidisciplinary database of academic and popular periodical titles.
