Where are ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) materials in the Library?

It depends, ERIC materials are of two types:

1.  Journal articles
have an ERIC  EJ Accession Number (such as EJ711372).  To determine availability,

    A) click on "Find in a Library" or "More details for locating item" within the ERIC    record
or
    B) search for the required journal in the Journals List. You can link to it from the Library's Home Page using Journals or Find Journals.

2.  Documents have an ERIC  ED Accession Number (such as ED123346).  Reports, special projects, pamphlets, etc. (90%-95% of which dated from 1966-2003 can be found in the ERIC Microfiche Collection in ED number order) are in the Microforms area on the 1st floor.

How do you know if your document is among the 90%-95%?  The detailed ERIC record lists the item as Level 1, 2, or 3.

      Level Guidelines:

  • Level 1 - Available online if indexed January 1993 onward; otherwise produced only in microfiche. (May have an earlier publication date.)

  • Level 2 - Produced in microfiche (submitted 1966-2003).

  • Level 3 - Indexed only.

NOTE:  A free version of the ERIC database is available on the Internet.
