Instructions for Obtaining Materials
Instruction librarians at the
University Libraries will make every effort to help you obtain
the information you need.
Here's how:
1. To find books,
musical and non-musical recordings, video/dvd recordings and periodical titles owned by
the University Libraries:
Access the
Catalog of the University Libraries.
Use WorldCat at your local library as it includes
the Boise State University Libraries.
2. To find references to periodical (magazine/journal) articles:
From the
University Libraries' Website,
http://library.boisestate.edu.
Click on
"Article Indexes and Databases"
or "articles" from the
left navigation bar. The resulting page lists
the periodical indexes and databases available for the Boise State community.
For subscription indexes, off-campus access is provided through an authentication procedure
that requires you to use your BroncoWeb login. Once your status as a Boise State student is verified, you
have full access to the index. As long as your browser is open, you will not
have to re-authenticate for each index that you use. A small number of
indexes have universal access and do not
require authentication and a small number require the
user to be on campus or in the Library.
Use an index at your local library. Most libraries have the
Reader's Guide or other popular indexes and many states have state-wide licenses to
indexes and databases.
Call Dan Lester 208-426-1235 who will talk to you and if appropriate, conduct an index search for
you.
To determine the periodicals/journals that Albertsons Library subscribes
to search
"Journal Titles" under
"Books, Articles, Journals and Other Resources" or
"journals" from the left
navigation bar. Search by journal/periodical title. This software lists all of the periodicals that
the University Libraries own,
whether through a print subscription or through a full-text database
subscription. More detail is at
http://library.boisestate.edu/usingtdnet.htm
3. To have materials sent to you:
Use the form on the first page of the Distance
Education students page - make sure the mail function is enabled in your browser.
Send your name, use the drop down box
to select your location, i.e. West or mail, and your telephone number. Twin Falls and other distance students
enter your name, mailing address and phone number.
Students/Faculty from West Campus, and students from the
Canyon County Center: Materials will be sent to the Boise State West
Library, room 209, where they may be checked out with your BSU ID. Typical
turn around time for materials sent to West is 2 business days (except over

via the Campus Delivery
request form
will be checked out to you and delivered via Campus Mail.
