Library Collection Grants
*Printable Information Sheet & Grant Application*
Albertsons Library awards competitive annual grants of up to $3,000.00 for the purchase of library materials in specified subject areas. The intent of these grants is to work with faculty members to identify areas of the collection in need of special attention. The goal is to promote the use of library resources by making collections more relevant to the coursework and research interests of faculty and students.
Who may apply? Applications are made by a team consisting of a library liaison and any one of the following:
- A department’s library representative
- An individual faculty member
- Groups of faculty members with a common interest in a scholarly discipline or an interdisciplinary topic
- An academic department
Eligible materials. Books (print or online) and other media (DVDs, CD-ROMs, scores, etc.) are eligible for purchase through this program. Due to ongoing costs, databases, journals and other serial titles are not eligible for these funds.
Availability. We will make every effort to have requested grant materials ready for use in the Fall semester. However, if a specific title is essential for a course, please send a standard request to your library liaison, rather than including the title in the grant application.
Application Process. Faculty members who are interested in applying for a grant should begin by contacting their library liaisons. Applications should be limited to two pages and:
- specify the academic area in need of attention;
- specify how an enhanced collection would benefit students through teaching or research at Boise State University, and;
- include a list of items to be purchased.
Send completed applications via email to Carol Silvers, phone 426-2132, by Tuesday, April 15, 2008. The applications will be forwarded to the chair of the Collection Development Grant Committee, who will evaluate the applications and award the grants. The grant recipients will be announced on May 1, 2008.
Please note that if the University faces unexpected budget constraints, this grant program may be modified or postponed.
