Loan Periods, Return Policy, and Overdue Fines

Loan Periods

Students Loan periods for the general collection for undergraduate students are 28 days. Patrons have the option of four renewals unless a hold has been placed on the item or the materials are required for Reserves.

Faculty/Staff Loan periods for Faculty/Staff are extended to the end of the semester.

Curriculum Resource Center Loan periods for materials in the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) differ from those of the General Collection and will vary according to the type of material. For more information about CRC materials and their loan periods, please visit the CRC Polices page.

Proxies Proxy status may be granted to students with an instructor's permission that allows them to checkout material in the instructor's name and for a faculty loan period. Forms are available at the Circulation counter or here.

Graduate Students Loan periods for graduate students are six weeks.

Special Borrowers Special borrowers are limited to 28 days for general collection materials. The item/s may be recalled if needed by a regular Boise State University student.

Holds If a needed book is checked out, a hold may be placed on it by presenting a Boise State photo identification card to a desk attendant. When the book is returned, the person initiating the hold is notified and the book(s) is held for a maximum of ten days at the circulation desk.

Recalls Books may be recalled from another campus borrower after being checked out for two weeks. In all cases Boise State students and faculty have priority over other borrowers.

Renewals Renewals may be made 4 times for both CRC items and for items for General Collection after the initial checkout. Books are due from the date of the renewal. Renewals may be done 3 ways:

  1. In Person: Stop by either the Main Desk on the first floor or the Curriculum Resource Center on the second floor.
  2. By Phone: Main Desk 426-1204; CRC 426-3605
  3. Online via the Online Catalog:
    1. From the Albertsons Library homepage, select the Your Library Account link.
    2. Log in to your account using your University ID or Special Borrower's permit number and your last name.
    3. Select the materials you want to renew by checking the box next to the item.
    4. Select the "Renew Items" button at the bottom of your list
    5. Scan down your list of items to verify that the system was able to renew the selected materials.
