Lost Books: Cost of item plus non-refundable $25 processing fee. Books are considered 'Lost' after 40 days. Patrons receive one 'courtesy notice' before the item is due and two overdue notices. The library cannot accept replacements for lost material. If an item is returned after it has been billed, the cost of the item will be waived and only the processing fee charged.

Interlibrary Loan items: Items procured via Interlibrary Loan belong to another library. After three overdue notices (two weeks), the item will be considered lost. Lost items are billed at cost of item plus non-refundable $25 processing fee. The library cannot accept replacements for lost Interlibrary Loan material. The lending library determines replacement charges.

Renewals: Four loan periods unless a recall / hold has been placed on the item or the materials are required for Reserves.

  1. In Person: Stop by either the Main Desk on the first floor or the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) on the second floor.
  2. By Phone: Main Desk 426-1204; CRC 426-3605
  3. Online via the Online Catalog:
    • From the Albertsons Library homepage, select the Your Library Account link (under services).
    • Log in to your account using your BroncoWeb user name and password.
    • Select the materials you want to renew by checking the box next to the item.
    • Select the "Renew Items" button at the bottom of your list
    • Scan down your list of items to verify that the system was able to renew the selected materials.

Holds

  1. A hold can be placed using the library catalog and the Hold/Request button.
  2. Also, if a needed book is checked out, a hold may be placed on it by presenting a Boise State photo identification card to a circulation, CRC, or reference desk attendant. When the book is returned, the person initiating the hold is notified and the book(s) is held for a maximum of ten days at the circulation desk.

  3. Recalls Books may be recalled from another campus borrower after being checked out for two weeks. In all cases Boise State students and faculty have priority over other borrowers. Special Borrowers may not recall items.

Proxies Proxy status may be granted to students with an instructor's permission that allows them to checkout material in the instructor's name and for a faculty loan period. Forms are available at the Circulation counter or here.

    Return Policy & Overdue Fines

Return Policy Books may be returned in the book drops at the end of the ramp west of the Library's front doors, the bookdrop at the end of the Circulation counter, or may be given to staff at the counter. A drive-up book drop may also be found in front of the Hemingway Center accessible from the Liberal Arts parking lot. If returned after hours the book will be back dated to the previous closing day.

Notices Overdue notices will be e-mailed. Three (3) days prior to the due date, a courtesy notice will be sent. The first overdue notice will be sent 7 days after the due date, followed by a second notice 15 days after the due date.

Damaged Books Books that are returned damaged will be assessed a fine of $10.00. If the book is not salvageable, the patron will be assessed replacement costs plus a $25 processing fee.

Fines Fines or fees are payable at the library Circulation Desk by cash, check, or credit card.

Refunds If lost and paid for materials are returned within six months, only the replacement cost is refundable.
