Unknown Places in Idaho In 1927, the Union Pacific Railroad issued an illustrated 54-page brochure touting the scenic wonders and wildlife of the state of Idaho. The text was written by Idaho's chief promoter, Robert W. Limbert, explorer, naturalist, and operator of a dude ranch in the majestic Sawtooth Mountains. The photos inside were his own. Limbert's brochure promoted both Idaho's scenic wonders and the railroad as well, for the landmarks described were no more than a day trip away from the closest station of the Union Pacific system.
