Powell, Metta J., 1870-1941



Diary of Powell’s first year in Idaho, with a daily record of her home, work, and social life. Includes descriptions of the social life of young single people in Boise and rural Ada County in the 1890s, particularly those living on the Valley Road (State Street) west of Boise; her teaching experiences in Ada County and Ola, Idaho; many sewing projects; her first engagement and its dissolution; and President Benjamin Harrison’s visit to Idaho in 1891.
