Clippings documenting the revival of interest in the 1980s and 1990s in silent filmmaker Nell Shipman (1892-1970), who made some of her films at Priest Lake, Idaho, 1922-1924; together with Townsend's correspondence with other park officials and researchers about Shipman's years at Priest Lake and the park's screening of her films. Includes a few early clippings (1916-1918) about Nell Shipman.

Townsend's extensive correspondence about Nell Shipman with Boise State University professor Tom Trusky and Shipman's son, Barry Shipman, can be found in the Tom Trusky (MSS 99) and Barry Shipman (MSS 90) collections, respectively.
