A Bibliography of Books at Boise State University from the library of Lloyd Jensen

MSS 269

Lloyd Jensen's library of Vardis Fisher books at the family home, 2008.

Lloyd Jensen (1914-1990), friend and neighbor of Vardis Fisher in Hagerman, Idaho, collected multiple editions of most of Vardis Fisher's published works.  Some were gifts from Fisher and his wife Opal; some Jensen purchased when they were published; others he acquired on the used book market.  In 2008 Jensen's children donated the bulk of their father's Vardis Fisher book collection to Boise State University.  The collection includes Jensen's complete collection of deluxe editions, books with personal inscriptions from Vardis and Opal Fisher, and other editions not previously represented in the holdings of the Boise State University Library.  Along with the book collection, the family also donated Lloyd Jensen's scrapbooks of postcards from Vardis Fisher, periodical issues containing writings of Vardis Fisher, and other research material, including books about Vardis Fisher and two books he once owned.  Together the collections form MSS 269 in the Special Collections Department.  Listed below are the books held by the Special Collections Department donated by the Jensen family out of Lloyd Jensen's private library.  Vardis Fisher's inscriptions in many of them are now online; click on the highlighted word "inscribed" in the bibliographic entry to see them.
