Boise State's Federal Documents Collection
Background
Boise State University Albertsons Library became a depository for Federal Governments Documents in 1966 and is currently a 52 percent selective depository library.
The Library's primary users are students, faculty and staff of Boise State University. Additionally, the collection is available to the Boise and Treasure Valley community and to all residents of Idaho. The Library is open to everyone and no restrictions are placed on who may use the Federal Documents in the Library. Exceptions are off-campus access to Federal databases for which the Library pays an annual subscription.
Collection
The Library's Federal government documents collection consists of publications that are printed at government expense or issued by authority of a governmental body.
The Boise State University documents collection is limited to selected publications of international agencies, Canada, and the U.S. with emphasis on publications about Idaho.
Collection strengths include: Census publications, Education, Health, United States Geological Survey publications, and the CIS Index for Congressional publications.
Checking out Federal Documents
The majority of Federal Government Documents may be checked out. Exceptions are those documents located in Documents Reference or in Special Collections. Federal Documents located in Current Periodicals follow the same guidelines for checkout as other periodicals.
Borrowing privileges are given to:
- Boise State faculty, staff and students
- Students from other Idaho colleges and universities
- all residents of Idaho who are over the age of 18
- Idaho High School students who have a borrower's card signed by their High School Librarian and their teacher
- Individuals requesting loans through Interlibrary Loan from another library
