Construction management topics lend themselves to different subject areas, leading to different index selections.  If the topic is related to the business of construction management, the indexes covering business periodicals would be most suitable. If the topic is related to technical areas, indexes covering technology would be most suitable.

Covers periodical articles and conference papers for all engineering disciplines.  Over 5000 serials are included.

Applied Science and Technology Abstracts

Covers periodical articles for all engineering and engineering technology disciplines.  620 periodicals are included.

U.S. Department of Transportation, Transportation Research Board and the National Transportation Library

TRIS Online

Identifies published research on transportation topics.  Material  covered includes magazine and journal articles, conference papers, technical reports and books.

Indexes to periodical articles for legal issues

These indexes via the Web are available to Boise State University students, staff and faculty. 

Index to Legal Periodicals, 1981-current
Covers over 900 journals, yearbooks, and law reviews.

LegalTrac, 1980-current
Approximately 1300 titles are indexed including major law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals and international legal journals. Law-related articles from over 1,000 additional business and general interest titles are also covered.

WestLaw Campus Research
, date varies
Besides court cases, this database also includes articles from selected law review journals. On the main screen, click the box in front of “Journals and Law Reviews” under the category “Encyclopedias and Journals”. Then, from the drop down menu, select either all journals or a specific state.

ConstructionEducation.com (also known as the Construction Education Connection)

From the site's description, "The Construction Education Connection is dedicated to the faculty and students of construction programs worldwide as well as the construction industry.  This site brings together many different construction web sites for those performing research or just searching for construction information."  Associations, news, materials and products, companies, online continuing education courses,  construction research centers, construction equipment and online calculators are some of the categories available.  Also hosted here is the Association for Project Managers' site.

Searchable database of an extensive number of construction related sites.  Some sections have a Canadian emphasis.  Maintained by the non-profit Construction Technology Centre Atlantic at the University of New Brunswick.

Construction Web Links

Great list of links... legal, jobs, associations, licensing, meetings, safety, and information on publications. The site is provided by Thelen Reid & Priest LLP, a law firm specializing in construction industry topics.  From the FAQ, "This site is designed to be the starting point for Web searches by construction industry professionals."

Internet resources for construction and the built environment

From the University of South Australia Library, an extensive list of annotated links to subject guides, association and professional sites, codes and regulations, government bodies, statistics, and universities. Journals and databases are listed but are primarily for use within the University of South Australia community.  Sites selected have an Australian emphasis.

Specialized Resources

ARCOM Abstracts

The Association of Researchers for Construction Management (ARCOM) produces an index that focuses on publications of interest to construction management.  Search for the citations and abstracts from selected journals and conference proceedings at this site.  Click on the "Search CM Abstracts" in the bar to the left to search by keyword within the titles covered.  Also on this site is a list of journal titles of interest to construction management; the list is much larger than the titles actually indexed.

Construction.com: The Construction Industry Marketplace

This site, produced by publisher McGraw-Hill, includes news (ENR, Architectural Record, Design-Build), product information (Construction Zone), company information (Sweet's Directory Search), projects and career information for the construction industry.  Some information requires registration.

Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (CERL), Army Corps of Engineers

Although the focus of this government agency is military installations, there is a wealth of information provided on this site that is a result of the research conducted by CERL.  Research themes include "Enduring Buildings", "Energy", "Land Use Management" and "Structural Materials".  Each section includes links to experts, products, and publication citations with summaries. 

FindLaw

This site excels in providing access to materials of legal interest, such as the United States Supreme Court cases and opinions. FindLaw also links to an extensive list of federal and state court websites, and to other sources of legal interest.

Sweets Network

This online resource for building products includes information from over 10,000 manufacturers. The search service is free but individual registration is required to retrieve some details and to use specialized content.

The Internet Directory for Specified Construction Products™

A searchable database for companies and their products.  Browsing for companies by using  specific categories is also available.

Thomas Register of American Manufacturing

One of the largest sources of product information for United States manufacturing companies.  The service is free but individual registration is required.

Associations

Association websites generally provide information about the association, membership opportunities, sponsored events, publications, news, and links to other sites.  Some associations include information on certification and continuing education opportunities.

AGC (Associated General Contractors of America)

Find news here on legislative, safety, labor, education and other issues of interest to the construction industry.  Although many of the resources require AGC membership to access, some are available to all.

American Institute of Constructors (AIC) 

Find information about AIC and events they sponsor at this website.  Some news articles are available.

American Subcontractors Association (ASA)

News releases, association information and events calendar are some of the resources found here.  Many of the resources require ASA membership.  However, the Gateway to Construction is available to all with links to other construction associations, and to government resources. No annotations are provided.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)

A great site to browse for industry news, with categories of Business Development, Government Affairs, Education & Training, Insurance, Safety and Legal.  

Associated Schools of Construction

"The professional association for the development and advancement of construction education..." (from the ASC home page).  Some parts of the site are available only to members. Available to all are the archives to the Journal of Construction Education (1996 (vol. 1) -2003 (vol. 8) and vol 1 of the successor title, International Journal of Construction Education and Research, (click Publications, International Journal name, Archive). The ASC Style Guide is also available through the Publications link.  The "Links" category lists web sites to associations, construction courses, publications, software, and other categories with brief annotations.  Note:  International Journal of Construction Education and Research, 2006 (vol. 2) - current, are available to Boise State University students, staff and faculty by searching the Journals List.

Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) 

Information about AACE is readily available on this site, as well as information about cost consultant certification.  Many publications are listed at the Resources link, though access to many require a membership in the association.  

Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) 

Along with membership, conference, and publication information, a news center features news briefs from tax and legislative affairs, and accounting and reporting (Click on the drop-down Quick Links box to find the News).

Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)

This site provides information about CMAA, CM certification, professional development and employment opportunities among other topics.  Articles from the CM eJournal are available, as well as a searchable directory of Construction Managers/ Project Managers.  There is a "members-only" area also.

Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) 

Find information on events, awards, membership, committees, and publications by the DFI.  The list of links on this website provides an extensive list for industry associations, government agencies, and other websites of interest.

Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)

Besides information about the DBIA, a publications catalog featuring materials from many sources is available, and a searchable database of design-build projects.  The D-B Magazine from McGraw-Hill Construction is accessible, and selected articles from DBIA's monthly magazine, Dateline.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Program 

Members of the U.S. Green Building Council representing all segments of the building industry developed LEED and continue to contribute to its evolution (From Home Page).  Information on this program is available here, as well as descriptions of LEED's publications.  Selected publications are freely available.

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)

Primarily a site that provides information about NAWIC, with information on events and education opportunities. There is a section devoted to industry news, and another that links you to sites providing legislative information.

Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) 

Besides the standard association information, a section on the description and benefits of the tilt-up construction method is also provided.

FMI Articles

Articles on management consulting and investment banking from FMI, a company with an emphasis on the construction industry.  A sign up option for an email newsletter is also available.

Focus on Aggregates and Roads

"Your Business to Business Online E-mag" (from website's main page).  Find product descriptions with selected company profiles for a variety of products of interest to aggregate and road building professionals.
