Other Search Options |
Basic
and Advanced search options; Basic is the default search screen, while
Advanced has to be selected; Advanced offers additional options for
searching such as designating “Author/Editor/Reviewer” or “Source” for a
search term or terms; significantly, searches can be limited by time of
event in “Historical Period from” and by language of the source in both
Basic and Advanced searches. |

Alerts |
Select
“Create alert for this search” link on the upper right of the screen and
then follow the instructions; alerts can be established only after
completing a search and viewing the list of results. |

Special Notes |
Click
“Visual Search” tab on the top of the screen to create a topic search
with results displayed in an interactive, visual map; additional search
options are available by selecting “Indexes” tab on the top of the
screen and then “Browse an Index” to search by language, subject terms,
author, year of publication, etc.; America: History and Life and
its companion Historical Abstracts can be searched simultaneously
by selecting “Choose Databases” link at the top of the search screen and
then checking the boxes for the two indexes. |
