control are included. Compendex and INSPEC are
searched jointly on the Engineering Village Platform.
Web of Science
Article information from approximately 8,500 journals in
sciences, engineering, social sciences, arts and humanities are included in
Web of Science. The main purpose of this index is the cited reference
search, which searches for the articles that have cited a particular
author's work, or a specific article.

energy-related scientific and technical information from the Department of
Energy (DOE) and its predecessor agencies, the Energy Research &
Development Administration (ERDA) and the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC).
The database provides access to DOE publicly available citations from 1948
through the present, with continued growth through regular updates."
E-print
Network: Research Communications for Scientists and Engineers
Find information BEFORE an article has been published.
This site searches several pre-print archives for computer sciences,
mathematics, nonlinear science, and physics, as well as repositories of
technical documents in several disciplines.
U.S. Department of Transportation, Transportation
Research Board and the National Transportation Library
TRIS
Online
Identifies published research on transportation
topics. Material covered includes magazine and journal articles,
conference papers, technical reports and books.
Northwestern University Transportation Library
TRANweb
(Transportation Article File)
Produced and compiled by the Northwestern University
Tranportation Library, this database covers all aspects of traffic and
transportation in the periodical and conference literature.

Technical Reports
NTIS (National
Technical Information Service)
Locate titles of technical reports produced from
government-sponsored research. Keyword, title and author searches of
reports from 1964 through current are available.
NTRS: NASA Technical
Reports Server
NASA's technical information including research reports,
journal articles, conference and meeting papers, technical videos,
mission-related operational documents, and preliminary data, is
searchable and often retrievable from this server. A search using the
Advanced Search also searches scientific and technical information from
sites external to NASA.
OAIster
This database contains information about digital
resources that may be of interest to the scholarly community and whose
records are available through the Open Archives Initiative. These
resources may be freely available, or access restricted. Examples of the digital resources available
include electronic theses and dissertations, technical reports, and eprints. The source repositories are multidisciplinary. OAIster
began as a project of the University of Michigan Digital Library
Production Service.
Science
Accelerator
The Department of Energy's (DOE) search engine for
scientific and technical information produced by DOE-generated research.
Databases to be queried can be selected on the Advanced Search.
Science.gov
This search engine to United States government agencies
web sites includes several that cover technical reports such as the NASA
Technical Reports Server, STINET Report Collection (Defense Technical
Information Center unclassified documents and citations), USGS Water
Resource Reports, DOE Information Bridge and EPA Environmental
Information Management System.
