Explanation of ILL Statuses


Interlibrary Loan (ILL) uses various statuses to track erquests and control workflow. The statuses, listed below, may be used to pinpoint he exact location of any given item at any given time. Please note that these statuses reflect the actions of the requesting customer as well as those of the ILL Staff.

Explanation:

Awaiting ALA Processing

This item cannot be requested electronically.  It will now be processed as an ALA (American Library Association) request and sent via fax or mail to a potential lender.

Awaiting Conditional Processing

A potential lender has responded to your request with a question or information (such as restricted use, high cost, etc.).  We will evaluate the request based on the special conditions stated.

Awaiting Copyright Clearance

We are checking to see if a copyright fee is required to obtain the requested article.

Awaiting Customer Contact

The requested material has arrived and has been processed by the ILL staff, but is not yet available for use.

Awaiting Denied Renewal Processing

Your renewal request has been denied by the lending library.   You will need to return the item right away.

Awaiting Doc Provider Processing

Because of copyright issues, we must obtain your item from a commercial document provider.  We are processing this request.

Awaiting Extensive Searching

We have performed an initial search for the material you requested, without finding a potential lender.  More extensive searching will now be done to identify exactly what is being requested and find potential lenders.

Awaiting Post Receipt Processing

The requested material has arrived but is not yet ready for pickup.

Awaiting Recalled Processing

The item has been recalled by the lending library; and must be returned as soon as possible.

Awaiting Request Processing

This request is ready to be searched and requested from potential lenders by the ILL staff.

Awaiting Return Label Printing

This item has been returned to our library.  It is currently awaiting processing so that it can be returned to the lender.

Awaiting Unfilled Processing

The request for this item was not filled by any of the possible lending libraries that we have tried so far.  We will try to identify additional libraries that may own this item.

Cancelled by Customer

The customer has cancelled this request and no longer requires the requested item.

Cancelled by ILL Staff

The ILL staff has canceled this request and immediately sends an e-mail message to you, which has detailed information about the cancelled item.

Checked Out by Customer

The requested ILL item has arrived from the lending library, been processed by the ILL staff, and has been checked out by the customer. 

Customer Notified via E-Mail

The requested item has arrived, been processed by the ILL staff, and the customer has been notified via email that it is now available for use. 

Customer Notified via Phone

The requested item has arrived, has been processed by the ILL staff, and the customer has been notified via telephone that it is now available for use.    (Note we call only if the item is placed in a special location such as Microforms, Special Collections or if it has a very short due date).

Delivered to Web

The requested item has arrived, has been processed by the ILL staff, and has been posted to the requesting customer’s ILL page, where it may be viewed and/or downloaded electronically via Adobe Acrobat. 

In Electronic Delivery Processing

An article request has been received electronically.  ILL staff is checking it for accuracy.

Item Checked In

The item has been returned to the library, checked in by the ILL staff and is waiting to be returned to the lender.

Received Incorrect/Partial Item

The item received either does not match the requested item or is incomplete.  The ILL staff will determine the quickest way to correct the problem

Request Finished

The request has been successfully processed and completed.  Requests with this status are archived under “View/Request History” button. 

Request Sent

The request has been sent out to potential lending libraries and ILL is waiting for a potential lender to ship the item.
