Frequently Asked Questions
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) supports the research and teaching needs of Boise State University by providing students and staff with a wide range of materials beyond the collections of Albertsons Library. ILL makes available article delivery and short term loans from libraries and document suppliers on a local, statewide, national, and international basis.

Cancelling a Request?
Until the request has been sent out, you can cancel it through the ILL systemt. After the request has been sent out, you will need to call (208) 426-3756 or (208) 426-1163 or email (libraryill@boisestate.edu) to stop the request.

Interlibrary Loan accepts up to 20 requests per patron for immediate processing.

Ebooks?
Due to licensing issues, ebooks cannot be borrowed via ILL. Check with a reference librarian regarding options.

First-Time Users?
On the ILL log-in page, type in your Bronco Web username and BroncoWeb password. A registration page will appear. Fill out your contact information and submit the form. The Main Menu will come up and you can request materials.

Lost Interlibrary Loans?
Interlibrary loan items are considered lost with the third overdue notice and the borrower's account is blocked. In addition to lost charges (as determined by the lending library), there is a $25.00 nonrefundable processing fee.

Renewals?
If they are allowed by the lending library, renewals can be requested three or four days before the due date. The request can be submittted through the ILL system or by calling the ILL office at (208) 426-3756 or (208) 426-1163. The lending library determines the new date.

Responsibilities of the borrower?
All charges resulting from damage to or loss of ILL materials must be borne by the individual borrower.
Overdue fines: There are no fines for overdue items. The library will email overdue notices to the borrower once the item is past its due date. With the third overdue notice or after 15 days, the item is considered lost and the borrower's account is blocked. in addition to lost charges (as determined by the lending library), there is a $25.00 nonrefundable process fee.
Use of Interlibrary Loan by groups: Materials are for the borrower's personal use only. Because of copyright and ILL code regulations, it is never advisable to obtain ILL materials for group use (i.e. - for Reserves, seminars, labs, classes or committees).

Turn-around time?
Please plan ahead. Articles can take up to three days to receive and books can take from two weeks or longer. Every effort is made to meet the borrower's "date needed by."

What can be borrowed?
AV materials, DVDs, and CDs - Difficult to obtain. Most libraries do not lend.
Materials owned by Albertsons Library - If our copy is in use, request a different copy via ILL.
Reference Books - Libraries will usually copy specific articles or entries from reference books.
Textbooks - Check with the Bronco bookstore for availability of textbooks.
Who can use the service?
Currently enrolled Boise State University graduate and undergraduate students and currently employed Boise State University staff and faculty (including Emeritus and Adjunct) are eligible for ILL services at Albertsons Library. Copyright - Each borrower assumes responsibility for abiding by provisions of the Copyright Act ( http://www.copyright.gov/ ).
All others, including alumni and special borrowersare not eligible.
